As part of its ongoing growth and improvement, the award-winning Creative Times approached TYPOCOM to redesign their website, to make it even easier for creative businesses and freelancers to post their own news, events and opportunities on the site.
Our task was to improve the overall website design interface and enhance the user experience, paying particular attention to the navigation and the arrangement of information. Functionality is essential when it comes to an online news resource, and the Creative Times features a wealth of articles, features and resources, which on the old site were difficult for users to access and utilise.
A key feature of the new site design is a much more considered use of typography. We’ve introduced big, bold Helvetica and consistent variations in size so that we have much greater familiarity across the site, along with the use of ‘white space’ to ensure ease of reading. Orientation assistance is important - the user will immediately recognise that it is an online news resource - and social bookmarking, related content and online community participation links are made clearer.
